Since COVID has affected the in-person fitness environment for the foreseeable future, many people (including myself) have resorted to practicing yoga in the comfort of our own homes. 🏠🧘♀️
Unfortunately, it can be a little bit tricky to figure out how to prepare your space in your house so that it is fit for yoga.
To help you out, I have created this list of necessities to make sure that you are prepared to practice at home! 👍
1. A Quiet Place - Although this may not be possible in every household (with kids/family members running around or roommates), it is incredibly helpful to have a space like this to improve the quality of your practice. 🤫
Sound is very stimulating to our minds and when we come to yoga we are trying to balance out any disruptions in our energy from exterior stimulation.
2. A Yoga Mat or Towel - It is important to grab a material like a yoga mat, or even a towel as a barrier between you and your floor. It will also help you hold poses for longer (and protect your flooring from your sweat!). 🙏
3. An object of significance - Whether it's your crystals, a piece of art, or a cup of tea make sure you have one symbolic item that gives your senses permission to enter that meditative headspace.
Here are some of my favorite spots to find some mindfulness items:
Tea - Palais des Thé
Crystals - Bookstore Scarabaeus
Incense and beautiful things - Muse by...
With these few things in mind, you will be able to practice yoga at home with nearly the same quality that you would experience in a studio.
